Mayfield Sports centre is the venue for this years Rochdale nine-a-side competition on Saturday (7 August 2010).
Eight teams will play out the tournament with the winner-laying claim to the coveted Charity cup.
The eight teams are: Mayfield, Mayfield A, The Barbarians, Littleborough, Rochdale Cobras, The Flying Horse, Rochdale Swarm and at special invitation the Ayr Knights from Scotland.
Mayfield’s Sammy Sampson has worked hard over the past few weeks to ensure the competition will be a success.
The format will be two groups of four with the winners of each group playing in the final, with a plate competition for the less successful.
Local band Strange Ways will provide some afternoon entertainment and there will be food and drink on sale in the club.
A spokesperson for the club said: “This promises to be a day to remember in the rugby league calendar so if you love your RL get down to the Mayfield Sports Centre and witness amateur rugby at it’s best.”
Kick off for the match is 12.00 noon with all games hopefully being completed for 6.00pm.
“If you have any energy left after the exertions of the day all are welcome at the Flying Horse where landlord Ben Boothman will be hosting a post competition drink and celebration from 8pm,” added the spokesperson.
