Droylsden 110 -7 - Bamford-Fieldhouse U15s – 107-8

Date published: 06 July 2010

After losing the toss, Bamford made a good start with Ahmed Nawaz removing one of the openers in his first over. Abbu Alam took a second wicket in the next over but Droylsden settled things down with Wood and Cullen batting sensibly. Wood was particularly aggressive towards anything short or wide and when he was caught out on 49, he had scored seven 4s and two big 6s.

Matt Buckley and Humza Malik put the brakes on the home side a little, both picking up wickets and going for less than twenty runs in their five overs. Pritchard batted well in the later overs and was 19 not out when the innings ended on 110-7. Abbu Alam had the best figures with 3-26 and Malik took two good catches in the deep.

Nawaz, promoted to opener, and Buckley began the Bamford reply with a mixture of boundaries and quick singles and after seven overs the score was 32-0. When Nawaz was out, Callum Openshaw carried on the good work and at 77-1 off thirteen overs, Bamford were looking well set.

When Abbu Alam and Openshaw went in quick succession, wickets began to tumble and although only 13 were needed from the last four overs, Bamford came up 3 short. Jackson and Cullen both took three wickets for 27 runs.
