Nathan Stanton has rejected a one-year contract offer from Rochdale AFC in favour of signing a two-year deal with Burton Albion.
Manager Keith Hill and his team offered the defender a new contract after the success of last season but the player didn’t respond in the set time.
The decision brings an end to Stanton’s four-year spell at the club, culminating in the clubs first promotion in 41 years.
The news will be a blow to 'Dale supporters, as Stanton quickly became a fans favourite following a string of impressive performances from the back.
In an interview yesterday, Stanton revealed he had three contracts to consider but chose ‘the Brewers’ after they offered him the two-year deal he desired.
Stanton joins the list of key players who have left Spotland this summer as ‘Dale prepare for their first season out of the bottom division since 1969.
