Moorside 106-9 - Bamford-Fieldhouse U15s – 94-5 - Match abandoned due to rain

Date published: 29 June 2010

Moorside won the toss and decided to bat but Bamford made a good start with the home side 17-2 off four overs. There was a wicket apiece for seamers Ahmed Nawaz and Joe Smith-Butler but Lyons, batting at three, steadied the innings. He cut the short, wide balls aggressively before being stumped by Callum Openshaw off Joseph Mitchell for 32.

Mitchell took three more quick wickets and at 61-8 things looked bad for Moorside. After a watchful start Scott and McGloughlin came to the rescue and put on 30 invaluable runs. When McGloughlin went for 11, Scott saw the overs out for an unbeaten 32.

The pick of the Bamford bowlers was Mitchell who took four for only one run. The catching showed a big improvement this week and James Moore must also be commended for a great run out.

Smith-Butler made another great start scoring 17 from the first twenty runs before getting trapped LBW. Matt Buckley and Openshaw then put on 41 with their usual mixture of quick running and well struck boundaries. After a slow start, Abbu Alam made 19 which included four boundaries and Nawaz got a quickfire 11 off four balls including the biggest six of the night.

Unfortunately the rain came in and Bamford were left needing 13 off the final three overs before the game was abandoned.
