Edwards signs on for six months

Date published: 22 June 2010

Goalkeeper Matt Edwards has signed a 6-month contract extension with Rochdale. The 19-year-old is yet to make an appearance for the club but has featured frequently in the reserves.

He was unfortunate with injury last season as a broken wrist kept him out of action when he may have replaced the injured Kenny Arthur in goal in November 2009.

However, Keith Hill has seen enough in the young stopper to give him a short term deal.

Edwards told the club’s official website: “I have six months to prove my worth and will be aiming to extend my stay at Spotland. I’m looking to get my hands on the number one spot or otherwise there would be no point being here.”
