Bamford Junior Cricket

Bamford-Fieldhouse U13s 93 all out - Droylsden 81-6 (Home)

Bamford's opening partnership of Joe Smith-Butler and Alex Willis made yet another good start scoring 62 off just over 5 overs. Smith-Butler retired with 33 off 12 balls including six fours and one six and Willis made 28 before he was given out LBW.

With five players unavailable, the under strength Bamford batting line up began to collapse with wickets falling at regular intervals and the home side ended up all out for 93 with more than half of their twenty overs unused. The only bright spot was a great innings from Ben Garside who made 24 before playing on to a Pritchard delivery.

Droylsden’s reply began poorly when Smith-Butler clean bowled the captain, Pritchard with the second ball of the innings. Callum Belfield then removed the other opener, Blencoe in the second over reducing the visitors to 8 for 2.

Bamford’s bowlers, with the exception Smith-Butler, did not bowl with enough discipline which kept Droylsden in the game. Only two of the visiting batsmen made it into double figures but with 43 extras conceded by the home team, the game was not decided until the final over which was splendidly bowled by Connor Wright.

Although not at full strength and a win is a win as they say, Bamford cannot concede so many extras against stronger teams and expect to keep their winning streak intact.

Bamford-Fieldhouse U15s 71 all out - Heyside 74-3 (Away)

Bamford batted first and set off well with Joe Smith-Butler in great form. After six overs they were 32 for none with Smith-Butler scoring the bulk of the runs. At the end of the seventh over they had slumped to 33 for 3. When Smith-Butler perished soon after, well caught whilst trying to reinvigorate the innings, he had scored 33 of the 43 runs on the board including a big six and 5 fours.

Ibbi Alam with 14 was the second top scorer which included 10 from one over. Jack Langford and Joe Mitchell managed 5 and 6 respectively but when Mitchell was caught Bamford’s innings ended on 71.

Anderson was the pick of the Heyside bowlers with 3 wickets for 6 runs in his three overs.

Ahmed Nawaz and Smith-Butler opened the bowling for Bamford and both displayed good pace. Nawaz removed the top three batsmen and ended up with 3 for 16 from his five overs. Callum Belfield bowled two overs for six runs but the Heyside middle order played very well giving few chances away and saw them through to a 7 wicket victory with both Cohen and Lindley showing up well.

After a poor batting display Bamford showed up much better in the field but in the final analysis, they were beaten in all departments by a well-drilled Heyside team.
