Badminton Club - centre of excellence

Club awards were presented by Badminton England at the recent National Championships in Manchester, a very high profile National event at which Rochdale were showcased as a Club to be recognised as a centre of excellence.

This is the only Junior Badminton club in the Borough with both of these prestigious accreditations, and boasts both a healthy membership as well as a very dynamic and active group of volunteers, both young and old.

Rochdale Junior Badminton Club are pleased to announce the awarding of both Club Future status and Sport England’s Clubmark, which is awarded to clubs by Badminton England when the club is able to demonstrate that it meets Badminton England’s criteria as to playing programme; safeguarding and protecting children; sports equity and ethics and club management. Clubmark is an acknowledgement that we take these issues seriously and that we provide a high quality and welcoming environment for young participants in Badminton.

Rochdale Junior Badminton Club is also pleased to announce the awarding of Link4Life Springboard Gold award in recognition of the ongoing commitment to Junior Badminton participation and Excellence throughout of the borough or Rochdale.

Rochdale Junior Badminton Club provides opportunities for young people between the ages of 7 and 18 to receive coaching and competition in the local Greater Manchester leagues and tournaments. All coaching is led by qualified coaches who are members of BADMINTON England’s Coaches Register and have been CRB checked for their suitability for working with young people.

The club has been in existence for over 40 years with its founding members Bob Heaton and Rodney Stanley still heading up the helm having coached numerous England & County players.

Currently training and coaching sessions take place every Saturday at 2pm – 3.30pm for beginners, 3:30pm – 5pm for competent players at Heywood Sports Complex, West Starkey Street,Heywood,OL10 4TW.
