Hornets mean business on sponsors evening
Date published: 24 November 2009
Hornets rugby league held their first ever sponsors evening on Thursday night (19 November). The night started with an introduction by Mike Banks, Hornets CEO, followed by a short DVD outlining the clubs aspirations.
Mark Wynn, the club's chairman, then introduced the new appointments in the office before introducing Alf Davies from the RFL, who has been employed as a consultant to the club over the last couple of months.
After a hot buffet prepared by First Choice Catering the new head Coach John Stankevitch took to the stage to tell the guests a little more about his background and his ambition for the Hornets. Several members of the squad were also in attendance following a grueling training session with new conditioner Des Drummond.
On the night the club sold over £10,000 worth of match day sponsorship, 20 new lottery members and gained a new agent. The lottery itself has now reached a record membership of over 2,000 members. There were many new faces as well as some existing sponsors.
Mike Banks, CEO said: “I thought the night went very well and was a great success for our “first event” in our new era. I personally spoke with several guests who although did not make a decision last night are keen to speak to us again in the next few weeks. I am positive by Christmas we will have made huge inroads into the majority of match day sponsorships. I would like to thank all the staff and board members for their hard work and a special thanks to all of those who attended.”
The fixtures for the 2010 season will be available in the next couple of weeks.
