Gabriella Idoko wins 60m gold at Northern Athletics U13 Championships

Runner Gabriella Idoko has been crowned the Northern Under 13s 60m champion at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
Gabriella, 12, is a pupil at St Cuthbert’s RC High School and has been training with Bury Athletics Club since she was nine as well as training under a private coach.
During the athletics championships, she won gold with a personal best of 8.62 seconds which currently ranks her 15th in the UK in the under 13 girls category.
Gabriella takes after her older sister, Blessing Idoko, who currently holds a bronze medal in the 200m U17 girls. Blessing most recently placed fourth in the girls’ U17 200m at Sheffield with a PB of 25.19 seconds, placing her sixth nationally.
Their mum, Anna, said: “Gabby’s dream is to one day compete at the Olympics. She feels on top of the world winning the gold medal and wants to do more.”
Her next event is the UK Athletics Indoor Championships 2023 on 19 February in Glasgow at the Muller Indoor Grand Prix.
