Muhammad Ali remains unbeaten after dominating against Craig 'Cold Heart' Sumner

Rochdale boxer, ‘The Diabetic Kid’ Muhammad Ali has moved his unbeaten record to 7-0 with a six round points win over Craig ‘Cold Heart’ Sumner.

Ali faced off against Sumner in the MTK Global event at the University of Bolton Stadium on 18 February, where he dominated the fight.

Ali, who trains at Salford’s Oliver’s Gym under Humphrey Harrison, said: “I’m looking forward to the future back on track and looking to be boxing very soon on the MTK Global show.

“I have a great team around me training and a fantastic management team.

“I want to thank all my sponsors and supporters supporting me on my journey looking to create history to become the first diabetic world champion.”

Ali made history in September 2018, becoming the first UK boxer with type one diabetes to fight professionally, following a three-year battle against the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC).

Ali was diagnosed with type one diabetes when he was around the age of five, an autoimmune disease that occurs when the body is unable to produce insulin, the hormone that controls the amount of sugar in your blood. It requires regular administration of insulin either by injection or by insulin pump.

He began boxing after encouragement from his mum, and began administering his own insulin when he was around 16.
