Stock car racing: Sonny Gilbertson gears up for debut

Sonny and his dad have been preparing his racer over the last two months

A Heywood youngster is gearing up to begin his stock car racing career next month.

Sonny Gilbertson, seven, will be making his debut at Buxton Raceway on Saturday 8 September.

With a racing pedigree in the family, Sonny and his dad have been preparing his racer over the last two months and is sponsored by ABL Signs, Aqua Valet and Classic Car Panels.

He will be racing with other children aged between seven and eleven years of age in various oval tracks.

Sonny’s grandad, Ian, raced in the mid 1960’s and dad, Adam, raced Autograss, beginning when he was a little older, at 12 years of age.

Sonny’s family will be at Buxton to cheer him on.
