Middleton Select’s Jordan Cookson has made it through to the national English Championships after landing the regional champion title.
Cookson, of Heywood, was named the Amateur Boxing Association north west champion for his weight category of 49-52kgs and will go onto the championships in Nottingham with other regional champions.
Middleton Select coach, Martyn Lynch said: “Jordan is a lovely lad who has boxed with us for years.
“He is in the ABA championships in the next couple of weeks as he got a bye [advancing without a fight] through our region.”
The national pre-quarter finals will take place at the Harvey Hadden Sports Village in Nottingham on 5 April before the quarter finals on 6 April and the semi-finals on 7 April.
The finals will be held at Manchester Central on 13 April.
