Rochdale Ladies Firsts welcomed City of Manchester Firsts at home on Sunday (3 March) - their second game of the weekend - in the quarter final match of the All Division Cup.
Despite City of Manchester Ladies being two divisions higher, Rochdale were eager to build on the success of the previous day and motivation was high throughout the pitch. However, it wasn’t long before City of Manchester made their mark and scored. Despite this Rochdale battled on with their heads held high as some excellent match play was displayed.
The game was a battle from both teams with Rochdale dominating in parts. Rochdale threw everything they had at City of Manchester but fatigue started to set in and the goal difference began to widen and the game ended 6-2 to City of Manchester despite a valiant effort from all the Rochdale ladies, especially the juniors, who despite the gulf in experience never gave up.
After the game, Doctor Jennie Ransome said: “I was proud of Rochdale today - it was a really gritty game”.
Player of the match went to keeper Samantha Partington.
