Littleborough U12s
It was Waterfall Cup time again for Littleborough's Under 12s on Sunday (18 November) with the squad travelling to Burnley to take on both Wigan and Rossendale.
Littleborough Under 12s second game pitted them against a Rossendale side who had been the victors in a previous meeting just three weeks ago.
However, this was a different Littleborough side which has come on leaps and bounds in recent weeks and they got off to a great start with some flowing rugby which allowed wide man Jamie Robertson to fly down the wing for the first score in the corner.
Superb play by the whole team put a shell-shocked Rossendale under more pressure than they could handle and the young men in black, green and yellow soon ran into a 3-0 lead with further tries by the hard-running Jake Ramsden and the persistent menace Tom Deacon.
Despite Rossendale pulling one back at the end of the first half, the visiting side went into the break fully justifying their 3-1 lead.
Littleborough got off to a slow start in the second half, allowing a rejuvenated Rossendale to pull another try back and soak up a lot of pressure before getting to grips with the game.
Soon parity was fully restored, following a great move with the ball passing through many hands before debutant Tyde King broke the line and scored his first try in a Littleborough shirt, much to delight of the man himself as well as teammates and family alike.
A final passage of play deep in the Rossendale half resulted in Tom Deacon diving over the line for his second try of the match on the final whistle. Littleborough got their revenge, running out well-deserved 5-2 winners.
Man of the Match award went to Zak Brady, with moment of the match going to Bradley Fleming for a great covering tackle which prevented a sure-fire Rossendale break away.
