Rugby Union: Littleborough U11s 12 – 8 Burnley U11s
Date published: 16 October 2018
Littleborough U11s were victorious on Rakewood home soil as they beat neighbouring Burnley U11s 12-8.
The score not only represents the hard work and game plan execution put in by the Littleborough boys and girls but also a high drama entertaining contest, considering the difficulties both teams were faced with: rain, slippery and greasy conditions, and unfortunate stoppages in play due to injuries.
Heading into the last 10 minutes of the game and with the score showing as eight a piece, the neighbouring Lancashire side really felt Littleborough’s presence.
Not once after the restart did the visitors even venture into the Littleborough half.
Littleborough's under 11s carried on forward, closed the spaces, defended well, and scored four scorchers - an average of a try every two-and-a-half minutes.
Against a good side and physically bigger players, that’s some electric yet ruthless rugby of the highest quality.
