Hockey: Rochdale Men’s Firsts 3 - 3 Golborne Men’s Firsts

Rob Lees - Rochdale Men’s Hockey Firsts
A high charge close game ended in a draw for the two close rivals.
Rochdale, coming off the back of a poor performance to Southport and missing severest first team regulars, flew out of the blocks, scoring after a few minutes. There will be few easier goals scored - three passes from defence to goal with Adam Massey finishing from the top of the D past the Golborne keeper.
After this Rochdale pushed and pushed and had several goal mouth scrambles and were unlucky not to be out of sight after twenty minutes.
Golborne fought hard by half-time the score was 3-2 to Rochdale after a second for Massey and Kieran King adding the third.
Golborne never know when to quit and pulled one back just after the break to make it 3-3 and that is how it stayed.
Rochdale were unlucky not to be awarded a flick for the second week running after a foot on the line from a Golborne defender.
However, ill-discipline again cost the Rochdale team as two players were sent off in the second half.
Captain Michael Waddicor: “We performed well and really stuck to their new formation with assistance from our watching coach Aasim. Who was a constant voice on the side line.”
The Flying Horse man-of-the-match went to Rob Lees.
