Local businessman wins gold at Brazilian Ju-Jitsu National Masters

Date published: 22 September 2018

A local businessman won a gold medal at the Brazilian Ju-Jitsu National Masters in Hereford on Sunday 16 September.

Richard Tang, Zen Internet managing director, took part in the Master five division, and defeated his opponent with an arm bar submission - a hold that forces a tap out.

His coach, Martin Stapleton, said: “I’m very proud of my student, Richard. He travelled to the National Masters and came away with gold in his division.

“Richard started BJJ maybe three/four years ago now and, despite a hectic work schedule, he never allows the ‘I’m too busy to train’ excuse to creep in, instead he epitomises the ‘I’m too busy not to train’ mindset.

“Richard spars on the mat with guys half his age week in, week out and always looks for opportunities to test his skills in competition.

“He is definitely someone to take inspiration from.”
