Cricket: Lancashire Women set for Hampshire showdown at the Crimble
Date published: 22 May 2018
Kate Cross is playing for Lancashire Women at the Crimble
Some of cricket’s biggest international names will be in action at Crimble on Bank Holiday Monday, 28 May at 11.00am.
It’s a feather in the cap of Heywood Cricket Club which is staging the Royal London Women’s One-Day Cup 50-overs-per-side match between Lancashire and Hampshire.
Heywood’s Kate Cross will line up in a strong Lancashire side alongside her fellow England internationals Alex Hartley and Sophie Eccleston.
Hampshire have their own big names on parade featuring among others former long-serving England captain Charlotte Edwards.
Another is Suzie Bates, the prolific New Zealand opening bat, who has established a reputation of being one of the best women players in the world.
It promises to be a significant occasion for Heywood, who are hoping that a decent crowd will turn out to add to the atmosphere of the occasion.
