Cricket: Heywood Cricket Club weekend teams

Date published: 27 April 2018

Heywood Second XI hold centre stage in a Crimble double header this coming weekend (April 28 and 29).

They hope to build on their narrow opening day victory at Failsworth Macedonia when they entertain Oldham area side Moorside in Division Four East of the Greater Manchester League on Saturday.

The following day Clifton are the visitors in the first round of the Second XI Cup.

Heywood’s first team hope to get over their opening Greater Manchester Premier League defeat by Flixton when they make the trip to Bolton area side Egerton on Saturday.

The strength of the Premier League is underlined by the fact that Egerton were champions in its inaugural year but relegated last season. However, their Premier status has been reinstated following the withdrawal of Bamford Fieldhouse from the top flight.

Heywood make one change, with England women’s international Kate Cross replacing the unavailable Sean Burrill.

Heywood First XI (versus Egerton, away, Saturday, 12.30pm): T Townsend (capt), R Cross, A Kerr, D Pawson, J Morley, R Paterson, A Dawson, D Latham, K Cross, S Dawson, T McQuinn.

Heywood Second XI (versus Moorside, home, Saturday, 1pm): S Evans, R Bennett, C Kaye, L Clarkson, M Witts, D Fawcett, J Mills, J Seddon, C Hilton, T Pagett, J Kaye.

Heywood Second XI (versus Clifton, home, Sunday, first round of 2nx X1 Cup): C Booth, R Smethurst and W Hunt replace J Mills, J Seddon and D Fawcett.
