MG ZR racing driver Joe Cruttenden has secured the backing of Rochdale-based Tetrosyl's car care brand CarPlan for the remainder of his the MG Trophy Championship campaign and into 2018.

In his inaugural year in the sport, the JDC Racing Team driver has enjoyed a positive start to his driving career, taking a season-best Class C podium at Knockhill in July. His results so far this season sees the Rochdale driver lie third in class and tenth overall in the hotly contested single-make formula.

The 27-year-old has made an impressive start on the other side of the car after spending much of his motorsport career as a co-driver to many top-line rally drivers.

2017 has seen a shift in direction for Cruttenden and has launched himself into one of the most popular racing championships in the UK, with over 40 cars regularly seen at each meeting of the MG Trophy Championship.

His new found success had drawn the attentions of leading automotive brand Tetrosyl and the firm will now support Cruttenden for the remaining rounds of the season.

Pete Lee, marketer at Tetrosyl, said: "Tetrosyl’s car care brand CarPlan is proud to sponsor Joe in his MG Trophy campaign for the remainder of the 2017 and into the 2018 season.

“CarPlan will supply Joe and his team with a range of their highest regarded and most popular products to ensure his car is kept clean at every race weekend.

"Tetrosyl wishes Joe the best of luck for the remainder of the 2017 season.”

Cruttenden is delighted to be associated with the well-respected brand.

He said: “Tetrosyl and CarPlan are names I think any car enthusiast is brought up with so to be supported by them is a dream come true for me.

“I'm really enjoying my inaugural season behind the wheel of a racing car and I’m making real progress with each and every meeting. I can’t wait to reward their support with perhaps a class win or two come the end of the season”.

CarPlan joins PEC Automotive, A&D Appliances, Guide Bridge MOT & Service Centre, On Tap Plumbing and Heating Services Cumbria Ltd as backers of Cruttenden’s JDC Racing outfit.

The next round of the MG Trophy Championship takes place at Oulton Park on 2 September.
