Three Day Event success
Rochdale Harriers took part in the 23rd Annual Three-Day Event, which saw runners travelling from as far afield as Hampshire to take on three tough races on the road, trail and fell around Norden.
Having won all three events, Callum Davison was crowned Three Day Event Champion for the second time, and the third year in a row that the competition has been won by a Rossendale Harrier. Ben Coop was comfortably in second place.
Hampshire proved to be poor training ground for fell running and as a consequence, Andy Simpson fell from third to fifth in the overall competition on the final day, allowing Rochdale’s Danny Bennett totake the final podium place.
Kay Welsby became the Ladies Champion, improving on her third place in 2015, running almost ten minutes faster over the three days.
Rebecca Gray secured second place with a solid performance in the fell race.
Rochdale Harriers Ladies Captain, Jill Butterworth, continued her remarkable season, running substantial personal bests in each race, improving by over thirteen minutes across the three races, to secure third place.
In total, thirty men and eighteen women completed the event, securing a prized completion t-shirt. The men’s team prize was won by Rossendale Harriers and the ladies team prize by Rochdale Harriers.
