Cricket: Rochdale beaten by Walsden
Date published: 02 May 2017
On Saturday Rochdale were convincingly beaten by bogey team Walsden at Scott Street.
The margin of victory – eight wickets, is somewhat misleading though.
Rochdale were put in a damp wicket and hardly came to terms with both excessive sideways movement and uneven bounce.
They were reduced to 54 for 8 before conditions started to improve, and the late order, led by skipper Dale Highton, who made 43, gave them some hope as the last two wickets put on 85.
However, despite two early wickets, half centuries for Nick Barker and Walsden’s deputy pro, Kelly Smuts, guided the home team comfortably home.
Scores:
Rochdale 139 all out (Highton 43)
Walsden 144-2
