Hornets Sporting Foundation to deliver Fit Schools programme

Rochdale Hornets Sporting Foundation will be measuring, monitoring and improving the fitness of young people at 15 Primary Schools across the borough.

The scheme is based upon a pilot project that saw an 8% improvement in the fitness of young people thanks to testing and improvement offered by the Foundations coaches.

Fit Schools will test the agility, balance and co-ordination of over 6,000 pupils in their PE lessons and will then repeat the tests across the next 12 months to monitor improvement.

Every child who is tested will have their own fitness programme delivered to them to do as 'homework' as well as taking part in school PE and receiving coaching in rugby league from the Foundation team.
