Queensway ABC, North West Champions: Ahid Khan, Joe Crawford and Zain Ahmed

Three Queensway ABC boxers, Ahid Khan, Joe Crawford and Zain Ahmed, became North West Champions at the weekend. 

Four Queensway boxers entered the competition and three champions could easily been four but in a twist of fate in that two of the Queensway boxers ended up facing eahc other in a final.

Coach David Hodgkinson said: "A lot of outsiders from the gym considered it strange to pit two of our own lads against each other, but for the coaching team it was an easy decision.

"With the squad getting bigger and stronger it is inevitable that some kids will be around the same weight and as coaches we cannot deny any kid his position in the competition if he feels he is good enough.

"Big clubs like the famous Repton gym in London do it year after year, making their team stronger through healthy competition.

"There is no favouritism in our team, no golden boy, so everyone gets their chance."

Next up the Queesnway team travel to Newcastle.
