Hornets family photo

Like most families getting all the family members together for group photo can be a task, but Hornets managed it for the first time ever in advance of the season opener against the Dewsbury Rams on Sunday the 5 February at the Crown Oil Arena.

The first team squad where joined by all the members of the extended Hornets playing family, with representatives from the Hopwood ‘Hornets’, Rochdale Hornets Masters, Hornets Ladies, Rochdale Hornets Wheelchair Team and the supporters team, the Rochdale Swarm.

Rochdale Hornets as a supporter owned club is keen to make the sport as accessible and inclusive as possible.

Joining the first team squad and support staff were (front row from L-R):

Zac Hartley, Hopwood Hall Hornets Rugby League

Zac who also has played representative Rugby League also plays for local community side Mayfield as well as the Hopwood Hall Hornets who are Rochdale Hornets Tier 3 Academy based at the award winning local college.

Emon Ratu, Rochdale Hornets Masters Rugby League

Emon is the son of Fijian pioneer Micheal Ratu and like his father he represented Rochdale Hornets with pride.

Emon is now involved behind the scenes and is active in organising the new Rochdale Hornets Masters Rugby League set up

Emily Wynn, Hornets Ladies Rugby League Team

Emily is the daughter of Hornets Chairman Mark Wynn. Emily helps out at Hornets on match days and also turns out for the Hornets Ladies. She was also selected for the Lancashire Ladies team in 2015.

Caen Matthews, Rochdale Hornets Wheelchair Rugby League Team

Caen works to support current and former members of the armed services and is the captain of the Hornets Wheelchair team.

Terry Morley, Rochdale Hornets Wheelchair Rugby League Team

Terry has been instrumental in setting up the Rochdale Hornets Wheelchair Team as well as supporting the Hopwood ‘Hornets’ based at Hopwood Hall.

Terry is also the Chairman of the Hornets Wheelchair Team.

Lauren Davies, Rochdale Hornets Wheelchair Rugby League Team

Lauren is one of several female members of the Rochdale Hornets Wheelchair Team. Lauren has a martial arts background and has taken to Wheelchair Rugby League really quickly.

Beth Harris, Hornets Ladies Rugby League Team

Beth has developed her Rugby skills with the Hornets Ladies and was selected for Lancashire Under 18s last season. Beth also helps out on Hornets match days.

Chris Churm, Rochdale Hornets Masters Rugby League

Chris was voted as an All-Time Hero of Hornets in 2016 in an open vote by Hornets supporters, after a great career with Hornets in the 1990’s

Like Emon, Chris has got involved behind the scenes and is also still involved supporting Student Rugby League.

Allan Osbaldeston, Rochdale Swarm, Hornets Supporters Team

Allen is a former Junior signing at Hornets and has been a member of the Rochdale Swarm pretty much since the Swarm first started.
