Mark Kitching joins Rochdale on loan

Date published: 27 January 2017

Mark Kitching has joined Rochdale on loan from Middlesbrough until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old, who is a graduate of the Boro Academy, signed his first professional contract at the Premier League side in 2014, and has since been included in Middlesborough’s match day squad. He also spent time out on loan at York City.

Kitching is a left-back but can also operate in midfield.

Manager Keith Hill commented: “I believe he will make us stronger. He’s a good player, he meets our DNA and I think once he warms up with respect to meeting the demands of the team and the environment, then I’m sure that we’ve got a very good young player coming in. I’m looking forward to working with him.

“He played for us in a behind closed doors game on Tuesday and I was really impressed with him.”

Kitching will wear squad number 32 during his time at the club.
