Hornets to launch junior elite training programme

Date published: 25 January 2017

Rochdale Hornets will be launching a junior elite training programme as they look to develop local talent in the area.

The 'Jets' programme is for u12s to u16s and the first block of training will be held during February half term, consisting of skill development, movement literacy and player education.

Hornets dual registration partners Warrington Wolves will send coaches and talent identification coaches to the sessions, making it a great opportunity for youngsters to showcase their ability in front of Super League coaches.

Hornets Head Coach Alan Kilshaw, who is a level three qualified coach, will lead the sessions with the assistance of Rochdale Hornets Sporting Foundation and volunteer coaches.

The sessions will be held at Hopwood Hall using the academy rugby facilities with head of Hopwood Hall academy Matt Calland also part of the coaching team.

There will be playing opportunities at the u15s and 16s age groups this season with games against other clubs.
