Date published: 30 August 2016

Molly Howell from Milnrow won gold in the European Raceboard Windsurf Championships in Brest France between 22 and 29 August.

Molly took gold and the title of European Youth Champion after five days competing in tricky conditions against a strong field. In a nail biting event that went down to the final race on the final day in wind exceeding 28mph.

Molly  has been coached by Mark Kay (2002 World and 2015 National Champion) on the raceboard class over the winter months and has been inspired by many coaches and windsurfers, including Harriett Ellis (Youth and Ladies World Champion 2011).

Molly has been competing at national level for four years at venues such as Weymouth and Portland sailing academy, the home of the 2012 Olympics, and internationally for three years in France and Italy.

Molly has also been working during the summer at Hollingworth Lake, teaching windsurfing amongst other jobs.

Next steps for Molly are to finish the national series hoping to secure both the inland and sea events making it an impressive treble.
