Boy critically injured on Manchester Road

A 12-year-old boy has been critically injured following a road traffic collision in Castleton.
Shortly before 4pm on Thursday 28 June 2012, police were called to the junction of Manchester Road (A664) and Bolton Road (A58), following reports of a collision.
Officers attended and found that there had been a collision between a Rover and a pedestrian, a 12-year-old boy.
The boy has been taken to hospital for treatment to serious head injuries and his condition is described as being critical.
Road closures are in place at Manchester Road and Bolton Road. While diversions have been put in place, motorists are advised to avoid the area.
