Rochdale Feel Good Festival: Free parking in town centre

Date published: 19 August 2015

Parking in all Rochdale town centre council car parks and metered on street bays will be free during Rochdale Feel Good Festival on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September.

The Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre Car Park will be free on both days of the festival from 8.00am to 6.00pm.

Festival partner Hopwood Hall College is also offering free parking from 7.00am on Saturday 5 September until 7.00am on Sunday 6 September.

It is hoped the free parking will encourage shoppers to visit the town during the festival and to show support for the event as well as for local retailers and businesses.

Council Leader Richard Farnell said: "There’s always a good atmosphere in town during the festival and we’ve got a great line-up of events as well as all the shops, restaurants and bars.

"This is all about helping people to spend more time enjoying them during a weekend which is so important to businesses. While the free parking should encourage visitors to the town centre, there's also great public transport available, including frequent trams, buses and trains.”

Rochdale Feel Good Festival is on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September, promising another showcase of entertainment, food and culture.

There will be live music across indoor venues, and main stage sponsored by The Flying Horse Hotel.

Music acts on the main stage line up include The South, Toploader, Kirsty Almeida, ska band The Uplifters, Shakedown Stockholm, The Renegade Girls, and Rochdale’s alternative rock band The Hotspur Press. Chefs in the Celebrity Kitchen include Rachel Allen, Kevin Woodford and Andrew Nutter.

The summer festival is funded by Rochdale Borough Council with sponsorship from local businesses including Hopwood Hall College, Key 103, The Flying Horse Hotel, Rochdale Football Club, O2 Rochdale, Balfour Beatty Living, Link4Life and The Royal Toby.
