Hayley Mallia raises money for Alzheimer’s

Date published: 12 July 2015

Hayley Mallia, 26, from Rochdale, raised £707.29 for the Alzheimer’s Society after holding a fundraising event at The Harrows pub on Saturday (4 July).

To raise the funds, they had a quiz, a tombola for adults and children, name the teddy, a DJ and a face painter. They also ran a ‘throw the wet sponge at our volunteers’ game and offered treats, such as cupcakes and homemade pie.

Hayley, who has been working with the elderly as a care assistant for six years, got in touch with The Harrows, who were happy to put on the event for free. They also donated 10p for each pint and other drinks to help towards the cause.

Speaking to Rochdale Online, Hayley said: “I didn’t know what to expect on the day, but I am pleased with all of the support given to me from The Harrows and the local community.

“I feel it is an important charity as I work with elderly people on a daily basis who suffer from Alzheimer’s.”

Hayley is hoping to have a similar event at The Harrows next year.
