Syke Methodist Church and Syke Community Base held an open day today (Saturday 11 July) to help bring the community together.
Held at Skye Methodist Church, the event was the first event held together by the church and community base after the two joined forces.
Simone Yeoman, from the Community Base, said: “We couldn’t afford to stay in the premises that we had beforehand and the church were kind enough to offer us their building, so we decided to come together and work together.
“The open day is about letting people know about that and to bring the community together for a fun afternoon.”
The event included a bouncy castle, face painting, a ball pool and soft play area, outdoor games, a prayer station and refreshments.
Music was provided by Rossendale Encore Concert Band.
Minister at Syke Methodist Church, Helen Johnson said: “We wanted to try and get the community together and whether that be through God or through the events that we put on, we wanted to try and engage with the community and bring the younger generation in a bit more.”
It is hoped that similar events will be held in the future.
