Nine Youths Charged After Middleton Man's Death

A 52-year-old man who died in Middleton on Friday night has been named as Arthur Green of Whalley Road, Middleton.

Mr Green was found in a collapsed condition on Nowell Road, Middleton at approximately 11.15pm on Friday 2 April 2004. He was taken to North Manchester General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A post mortem has confirmed the cause of death as a result of heart problems.

Nine male youths, all from Middleton, were charged in connection with this incident.

The youths, four aged 16, four aged 17 and 18-year-old Jamie McGoldrick of Latrigg Crescent in Middleton have been charged with violent disorder and manslaughter and are due to appear before Rochdale Magistrates on Tuesday 6 April 2004.

Update: A tenth youth has also been charged. The 15-year-old boy from Middleton has been charged with manslaughter and violent disorder and will appear at Rochdale Magistrates court on Thursday 8 April.
