Inspiring young people
Date published: 17 March 2014
On Saturday 15 March the Leeds Young Authors visited the Rochdale Pioneers Museum as part of a project funded by The Co-operative Area Committee in Leeds.
The group enjoyed a lively tour by Museum Officer Clare Hirst and particularly enjoyed trying on the museum’s dressing up collection.
The Young Authors later headed to The Co-operative HQ at Angel Square, where they performed poetry inspired by the Pioneers and the co-operative movement in the building’s impressive atrium.
Museum Manager Jenny Mabbott said: “It was fantastic to have such a fun, lively and inspirational group of young people visiting the museum. We look forward to receiving copies of their poetry.”
Also on this day the York Walk Worker’s Education Association visited the museum for a tour and later headed to Rochdale Town Hall.
