Parent-teacher meetings

Parent-teacher meetings are an important time to meet with your child’s teacher in a one to one setting. It is a chance to see how your child is getting on in school, how they socialise with other children in the classroom, playground, extra-curricular activities etc. It also shows your child that you care about their progress in school.

Don’t be anxious about attending the meeting, teachers can be equally anxious about meeting parents! Be positive and remember you are working on the same team.

It is important to stick to the time allotted, as it can be irritating for other parents if the teacher’s time is taken up by a couple of parents. If there is a lengthy issue to discuss, ask if you can make another appointment at a later date.

Prepare yourself before the meeting; get your questions written on a piece of paper so that you don’t forget.

Let them know about the meeting and ask them if there is anything they would like you to discuss with their teacher, make sure you ask the important questions first in case you run out of time.

The meetings will be held on Monday, 3 March and Friday, 7 March in the school hall between 1pm and 4pm on both dates.

Please book your appointment with the class teacher the week before and ensure you turn up for your appointment at the correct time.

Children’s mass

There will be a children’s mass in the church 9.3am on Sunday, 9 February for all children on the Sacramental Programme – all must attend.

Robinwood residential activity trip - September 2014

Once again, our year 6 children are invited to join the three day activity holiday at Robinwood activity centre in Todmorden on Friday 5 September 2014 to Sunday 7 September 2014.

The total cost per child, including transport to and from school, is £75. A non refundable deposit of £10 is due by Friday 14th February to reserve a place for your child. We suggest that the remaining balance is paid in instalments – a suggestion would be £5 per week, the full amount must be paid before the end of June.

Lost property

Children being children sometimes put things down and forget about them. Unfortunately, it can be a coat, a jumper or another item of value. Please teach your children to be responsible for their own personal items, and should your child arrive home with a coat/jumper that is not theirs, please return it to the school the day after so that it can be returned to its rightful owner.

Clubs

Afterschool and breakfast clubs

The charge for afterschool club and breakfast club is 25p per session. Please ensure that you pay for your sessions at the school office every week.

Homework club

Children must be collected at 4pm promptly.

Attendance and punctuality (has been excellent this week)

Punctuality

Please ensure your child is in school for 8.50am each day. Lateness is very disruptive for the school and you should make every effort to be on time.

Attendance

If your child is absent from school, you must ring the school office on 01706 647195 before 9am to provide a valid reason.

Medicines can be administered in school by our qualified first aid staff and if your child is otherwise well but needs medication, please send them to school with their medicine and complete a consent form at the school office.

Holiday leave

Please do not ask for leave out of normal term time, this will not be granted and will be marked as unauthorised on your child’s register. Please be aware that penalty charges can and will be issued for continued absenteeism and you may lose your place at the school.

Moving house or changing telephone number

We still have a very small number of parents/carers who do not inform the school when they change telephone numbers or move house. It is essential that we have correct contact details for cases of emergency.

School meals

We are getting a large number of children changing their meal patterns on a daily/weekly basis. Due to the disruption this causes, meal patterns cannot be changed until the end half term so please decide if your child is to have a packed lunch or school meal and keep to that decision.
