Guardian Angel comes forward after helping stranded driver

Date published: 05 February 2014

Scott Margerison was one of two men who helped a stranded female driver who had broken down on Friday 24 January.

Heading back to Rochdale from Todmorden, Scott noticed the car with its hazard lights on and stopped to help as there was no recovery vehicle about.

Scott said: “It was dark, it was raining and the car had its hazards on so I thought I would just stop to see if they were ok and needed any help.”

Scott, who was driving his Silver Land Rover Defender at the time, helped Dr Liz Cooper with her vehicle and also helped her get to her destination: “I said I would follow her to her destination as well in case she had any more problems,” added Scott.

Scott was accompanied on the journey by his friend Adam. Scott said: “I don’t want to try and make out like it was all me.”

Once Scott and Adam had successfully got Liz to her destination, Scott said he could feel the emotion from her. He said: “When we got to where she was going, she grabbed my hand and squeezed it. I could just feel all of this emotion come from her.”

Dr Cooper said: "I am indebted to them for their kindness, which has restored my faith in human nature."

This isn’t a first for Scott, he often helps people who need it and recently helped change a tyre for an elderly lady whose car had suffered a puncture on the moors.

“I just like helping people. It is a really good feeling to have and when you see that gratitude on someone’s face after you have helped then, there is nothing like it.”
