Audiobooks at your fingertips

Date published: 04 February 2014

Bookworms on the go of any age can now download hundreds of digital audiobooks at the click of a button via a new free service being offered by Rochdale Borough Libraries.

The service is run in conjunction with audiobook download service OneClickdigital, which offers hundreds of fiction and non-fiction titles for adults, plus a smaller range for children and young adults. New titles are added every month.

Councillor Peter Williams, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Customer Services, said: “Modern libraries are no longer just about books on shelves. Our libraries are really embracing all that the modern, digital world has to offer and, as such, borrowers now have the chance to access audiobooks at the click of a button whenever and wherever they may be.”

To download books people must be a member of Rochdale Borough Libraries and they can then set up a free account with OneClickdigital. The OneClickdigital website provides three free apps which enable easy downloading to a range of mobile devices such as MP3 players, smartphones and tablets.

Book lovers can download up to 12 digital audiobooks at a time for up to 21 days each. If you haven't finished listening to your audiobook you can renew it for another 21 days and once you've finished listening to your audiobook you can 'return' it by simply removing it from your device and you're ready to borrow some more.
