Date published: 30 August 2013

The first day of Rochdale’s Feel Good Festival has been praised by people in attendance.

At 10am this morning (Friday 30 August), the Feel Good Festival, which is a two-day long festival held in Rochdale Town Centre, kick started and welcomed locals and visitors to enjoy cooking demonstrations, food, games, stalls and fair rides.

Mayor Councillor Peter Rush opened the festival and said: “This festival keeps Rochdale on the map and today is Rochdale’s day. We have to bring people together and show everyone how great this is.”

Angela Wynn who attended today’s part of the festival said: “It is brilliant. It's good because the kids go back to school next week so its nice for them to end the summer with this.”

Ruth Finneran, who will be attending tomorrow as well as today, said: “I’ve had a really good day. You couldn’t move last year and I’m guessing it will be like that tomorrow.

Laura Nugent, who was holding a Zumba demonstration at the festival, attended for the first time this year and said: “Its good. I’ve never been before but it’s reallygood that something like this is done in the town centre.”

Melanie Rigby, whose husband had a stall at the festival, said: “I’ve been to the festival in previous years and it’s just brilliant.”

Praise for the festival continued with celebrity chef, Aazam Ahmad, who has attended all six Feel Good Festivals, saying: “This festival brings everyone together and lets everyone come together without any boundaries. Just look at everyone here.”

The Feel Good Festival continues tomorrow (Saturday 31 August) from 10am, with bands taking to the live music stage from 3pm.
