Local people get a taste of political debate

Date published: 29 August 2013

Rochdale residents enjoyed an afternoon of political debate, cake and coffee last week, as part of a regular debating session organized by local MP Simon Danczuk.

Rochdale’s MP is hosting regular debates in his constituency office in the town centre on Friday afternoons offering constituents the chance to debate with him on local and national issues.

Last week’s session saw local people debate zero hours contracts, Rochdale town centre, the accountability of public services and how to keep talent in Rochdale among other issues.

“It was a really good debate and it’s always great to meet people who are passionate about local issues,” Simon said afterwards.

“There are many important issues that people feel incredibly strong about these days – and I want to give them the chance to come and debate with their MP in an informal and friendly setting over a slice of cake and a mug of coffee,” he added.
