Canoe and Kayak taster sessions
Date published: 25 August 2013
Hollingworth Lake Water Activity Centre held free taster sessions in canoeing and kayaking today (Sunday 25 August). Held in line with the canal festival, the sessions allowed children between 7 and 16 to take part in canoe and kayak activities.
Duty manager, Alistair said: “The sessions booked up really quickly.”
During the sessions children learnt how to control the boats and learnt how to paddle in a straight line.
Alistair added: “We’ve seen mainly children between 7 and 14 taking part today.”
The Canal Festival funded the sessions, which enabled children to take part for free.
Amy Burn brought her son and nephew along to the morning session and said: “They have always wanted to do something like this and when I saw it was free, I thought I’d bring them along. Its always hard to try and get
the weather for it but today is great.”
Alistair added: “They have been really popular sessions.”
Hollingworth Lake Water Activity Centre holds taster sessions for canoe and kayaking on Saturday mornings for children aged between 7 and 14 between 9:45am and 11:30am costing £10.
