Fun weekend raises money for charity

Date published: 25 August 2013

Staff at The Sandbrook Crown Carvery on Sandbrook Way, Rochdale have held the first day of a charity family fun weekend to raise money for two local charities.

The weekend of activities aims to raise as much money as possible for Springhill Hospice and Dr Kershaw's. The bank holiday weekend is playing host to two days of activities.

Today (Sunday 25 August) saw the pub host a bouncy castle, face painting, a fire engine, tombola, cake and a mystery prize awarded to the highest bidder.

Organiser of the event Becky Masterson said: “I would like to say we could raise about £500 today but anything would be great. The money will then be split equally between the charities.”

The carvery will also hold activities tomorrow (Monday 26 August) and will include a car boot sale, bouncy castle and a stall inside the building.

“It really is aimed at kids and families,” added Becky. “The weather is really helping as well so that’s good.”
