Fuse Your Park

Date published: 25 August 2013

Hundreds of people attended the annual Fuse Your Park event in Broadfield Park. There was plenty to enjoy, from henna decoration, face painting and calligraphy to a bouncy slide, climbing wall and sumo wrestling, archery, bucking bronco, singing and dancing.

The fantastic weather and the hard work of many young people and organisations, helped to provide an event that Councillor Sultan Ali, Cabinet Member for Strengthening Communities was proud of. Councillor Ali told Rochdale Online: "It was very successful, especially because it was nice and sunny. There was a nice relaxed atmosphere and the event proved popular all the way through, with an excellent turnout in the Park. All generations celebrated our town’s diversity and took part in a wide range of activities.

"Well done to Rochdale Youth Service and especially the volunteers and young people."

Mohammed Sheraz, Rochdale Youth Service Youth Worker, said: “It was a great day and fun for all as the sun was shining all day long.

"Children and families swelled in numbers and had a great day out in the Park. I would like to thank the young people who volunteered and ensured that the event was so successful.”

Sandra Bowness, Assistant Director, Early Help and Schools, said: “What a fantastic day for children and families. Fun in the Park and plenty of activities organised, a successful event bringing people together."
