A group of local learners were treated to a special guided tour of Barclays Rochdale branch, as part of their money management courses.
The trip was hosted by branch manager, Alison Murray, who took the group around the bank and explained all the new machines and technology available to the public. After the tour, the group listened to a talk about the different types of accounts available and how to set up savings accounts.
The group thoroughly enjoyed the trip, and commented that it had been really helpful to learn about how to set up accounts.
The money management level 1 work skills programme has been designed by Training @ Hopwood, part of Hopwood Hall College, to help local people understand the best ways to manage money.
The course includes skills such as learning about how to save and different types of bank accounts. This is especially important in light of new Universal Credit changes. From October, claimants can manage their claims online, so the course also looks to ensure learners have the skills to do this and have bank accounts in preparation for these changes.
