Falinge Park High School breaks GCSE results records

Date published: 22 August 2013

Falinge Park High School students have impressed staff with their excellent GCSE results and have once again broken previous results records.

Headteacher Robin Lonsdale said: “Once again results at Falinge Park High School broke all of their previous records. Good GCSE results rose in five plus A*-C, including English and Mathematics by 3% with similar big increases in Science, Modern Foreign Languages, Mathematics and English. We are absolutely over the moon.

"It shows the hard work of the students and the support of the parents. As you can hear from the reaction, everyone is pleased. We never forget how important children are to their families. I hope that we have repaid their trust in us.

"We hope that whether students got 16 A*-C or one A*-C this represents everybody’s personal best.”

Joshua Toft-Wild was proud to be one of the school's top performing boys. Mr Lonsdale added: “He sets himself very high standards but he has done great.”

Joshua said: “I expected some higher results but with the grade boundaries changing, understand why they are what they are.”

Joshua will be heading on to Rochdale Sixth Form College to study for his A Levels in dance, drama, English literature and biology and will also be doing a two year dance training course with the Lowry.

"I would eventually like to go to university to be a dance and drama therapist, he said,  I am really pleased with the results, I did work hard for it and that’s been worth it.”

Hekate Heathcote-Marley will also be heading to college and hopefully university after her successful results. She said: “I am very pleased. I wasn’t really nervous last night but I just tried not to think about it.” Hekate is going to be studying art at college, something that she has always wanted to do. “The hard work has definitely paid off,” she added.

Hollie Drake, who has always had an interest in law and justice, hopes to study to become a barrister after leaving college. Hollie said: “I couldn’t sleep last night. I just wanted to do well.” Hollie will now be heading to Rochdale Sixth Form College to study for her A Levels and hopes to then head off to university to achieve her dream.
