Video footage of the fire at DS Motors, Ebor Street, Littleborough on Tuesday 20 August.
Acetylene cylinders were cooled by firefighters using jets and an aerial appliance.
Six appliances attended the blaze at the garage, which was on fire along with two neighbouring properties, and two fire crews remained at the incident throughout the night.
Station Manager Glyn O'Reilly, who was in charge of the incident, said: "Crews have worked hard at this incident and we are pleased to say that the cooling process has been completed and the acetylene cylinders are no longer dangerous."
The rail and roads affected in the area re-opened late last night.
Those residents who were evacuated were looked after by the Emergency Planning Officer from Rochdale Council and were allowed back in their homes.
