New Springhill Hospice shop set to open

Date published: 19 August 2013

Springhill Hospice is set to open a new charity shop in time for the Heywood Charities Fete on 1 September. The new shop is expected to be launched on Saturday 31 August.

The new shop will be opening on Market Street, Heywood and will be the seventh Springhill Charity shop to open in Rochdale.

Lillie Winterbottom, Community Fundraiser for Springhill Hospice, said: “We need volunteers and stock for the shop. We are looking for anyone who can either spare an hour or five days a week.”

Sarah Ford, Springhill’s Retail Lead, said: “Come and join our team, it's very rewarding and our volunteers all really enjoy what they do.”

The shop has only taken a few weeks to get ready. “Its been a bit of a whirlwind really. It has been a quick set up so we could get it ready for the charities fete, so it’s only been 2-3 weeks,” added Lillie

The Heywood shop will also stock a range of prom dress, wedding dresses and evening wear. This is something that is already being done at the Yorkshire Street, Rochdale branch.

“We have lots of donations of prom dresses. You find that it’s something that sits in your wardrobe because it has gone out of fashion the next year,” said Lillie.

“Some people are sentimental about their wedding dresses but we have had some donations.”

Sarah added: “If you're having a clear out or you've got a bag sat in your car waiting to be dropped off, you can either drop it here at the shop, at the Hospice itself on Broad Lane or at our Middleton shop, in fact, at any of our retail outlets for that matter.”

Anyone interested in helping with the shop or volunteering any time they can should contact Sarah on 01706 649920.
