Charities Fete encourages care for natural wildlife
Date published: 18 August 2013
Hollingworth Lake Visitors Centre played host to a charities fete this afternoon (Sunday 18 August) to encourage visitors to care for natural wildlife.
The fete, organised by Graham Bellenger, saw local volunteers speak to visitors and tend to stalls set up to raise funds for the Lancashire Wildlife Trust.
Graham said: “We are interested in nature conservation and want to educate people about the natural wildlife we have.”
Seven stalls were set up for the event including a tombola, plant stall, hook a duck and a bookstall. A free quiz was also available for children. The children had to find pictures of animals hanging around the fete and collect letters attached to the pictures. Parents of the children then had to rearrange the letters to create a word.
“It is hard to estimate how much we can raise at these kind of things but we want to raise as much as possible,” added Graham.
The charities fete has been held annually for the past three years.
