Will Salt, 19, from Norden, is celebrating having secured a place at one of the UK’s top universities following his A level results.
Will, a student at The Manchester Grammar School (MGS), achieved an A* in Economics, an A in Geography and a B in Politics and will now read Geography at Leeds University.
Speaking of his success, he said: “I didn’t expect these results, especially the A* so am delighted with what I have achieved.
“It was a pleasant surprise to open the envelope and get the university place confirmed.”
As well as remaining committed to his academic studies, Will has also maintained his place on the school’s hugely successful water polo team.
He added: “The water polo team has won so many championships and it was an honour to be a part of it – I definitely want to carry that on at university.”
The results show that it was another outstanding year for MGS. Some of the highlights of the school’s results include a quarter of all grades achieved being A*. Again the school has seen 90% of grades being A*, A and B. 80 students have achieved straight A* and A grades.
High Master Dr Christopher Ray concluded: “I am delighted that MGS boys have achieved such terrific results once again.”
