Nutters’ celebratory signs are back!

Date published: 14 August 2013

Nutters restaurant in Norden has been allowed to keep its 20th anniversary signs.

Rochdale Online recently reported that the restaurant was ordered on Tuesday 6 August to remove the sign within 24 hours or face legal action.

Celebrity Chef Andrew Nutter said he received a call on Friday 9 August from Rochdale Council giving him permission for the signs to stay.

Andrew said: “The signs were there to celebrate our success in Rochdale.

“It was just common sense really. The council are delighted we’ve been open for 20 years and are looking forward to another 20 years of Nutters.

“We’re on the push for positivity.”

Rochdale Council has said that it was not a member of their staff who told Andrew to take the signs down.

A spokesperson for Rochdale Council said: “We are replacing all the street lighting columns across the borough as part of a PFI (Private Finance Initiative). It was a contractor who is working on this street lighting PFI who told Mr Nutter to take the banners down, not the Council.

“We are working with Mr Nutter to ensure the appropriate licence is in place retrospectively. We wish him all the best for another successful 20 years of business.”
