National Citizen Service (NCS) comes to Rochdale

Date published: 13 August 2013

Young people between 15-17 years of age have the opportunity to take part in National Citizen Service (NCS) this summer.

NCS is a government funded scheme which brings young people together from different backgrounds and teaches them what it means to be responsible and contribute to their communities.

Young people from Rochdale will take part in NCS, powered by The Challenge Network. The programme is currently underway and will run until the end of September.

Whilst on the programme, young people will complete a number of challenges which will develop their teamwork, leadership, communication and social skills.

One of the challenges will see young people build relations with local charities in Rochdale on 7-8 September, including Incredible Edible. They will then carry out sponsorship and campaign projects requested by their charities during a large scale social action day on 28-29 September.

A total of 14,000 young people will complete NCS with The Challenge Network across all London boroughs, Surrey, Birmingham and the West Midlands and the North West of England.
